Origin Prerequisites

Before applying to join, you need to:

  • Install the Shibboleth origin software as described in the deployment guide at http://www.switch.ch/aai/docs/shibboleth/internet2/1.2/deploy-guide-origin1.2.1.html. During installation you can either follow the procedures below to join the SDSS federation as part of the initial setup, or begin with a free-standing (localhost) setup that is not part of a federation and then reconfigure it afterwards. See also InstallNotes. Apache 2.x users will need to work round the bug described in PostBug when choosing URLs for the Shibboleth attribute authority and handle server.
  • Obtain an X.509 certificate, as described at GetCertificate. The same certificate may be used for both an origin and a target.

Once you have installed the software and obtained a certificate, please send us your application in the form described at JoinFedOrigin.
