Internet 2 announces new Shibboleth Identity Provider release
Posted on Thursday, 1 January 1970
Internet 2 has just announced the release of the Shibboleth Identity Provider, version 1.3.1.
This new version offers a number of enhancements and some new features including:
- Two new resolution plugins that allow for static attribute values for everyone in the system and the ability to use ECMAScript (Javascript) to define and manipulate attribute values.
- Integration of Will Norris's ARP constraint functionality which allows for rules to be constructed that release or deny attributes based on the values of other attributes. This can be very helpful for implementing things like FERPA release flags.
- A set of features meant to help organizations transition to Shibboleth 2.0, these includes the ability to optionally terminate support for 1.1 service providers, modified entity credential (X.509 cert) trust checking, and ability to read "raw" keys from the metadata.
- Ability to trap stale requests (when users hit the back button), option to redirect users to an "SP-blame" page when SPs issue requests with a target parameter, and some new clustering support.
For a complete list of the changes please see the change log.
As always downloads are available from the Shibboleth website.
